The 2018-2019 Cypress Drive Improvements project, which includes construction and expansion of Cypress Drive to 4 lanes between College Road and Excelsior Road, will be resuming construction this spring as soon as weather allows. The project prime contractor Landwehr Construction, Inc. of St Cloud spent the 2018 construction season focusing on completing improvements along the State Highway 210 corridor and north of 210 and starting work in off existing roadway areas on the remainder of the project. The planned initial construction phase in 2019 is completion of improvements south from Basswood Road including construction of a roundabout at the Cypress Drive/College Road intersection, subject to change. There will be a signed detour for College Road through traffic for up to 6 weeks during closure of the road for construction of the roundabout. The new Cypress Drive railroad grade crossing is also planned to start in the spring but will not be opened to traffic until the planned substantial completion of the entire project in September/October 2019. The overall project scope, some of which has already been completed, includes the construction of roundabouts at the Cypress Drive/College Road and Cypress Drive/Excelsior Road intersections, a new traffic signal at the TH 210/Cypress Drive intersection, removal of the TH 210/Golf Course Drive traffic signal and conversion to a ¾ intersection, storm water facilities, municipal utilities, street lighting, bike lanes, and multi-use trails.
