Thank you to all residents and property owners who attended the Memorywood Drive Information Meeting on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. Your interest in the project and input on the design was greatly appreciated. For those property owners that were not in attendance, a copy of the feasibility report and information meeting handout is available for download below.
The feasibility report and informational meeting presentation outlined the following two potential improvement options:
- Option A – Reconstructing the existing 34’ wide roadway with two 11’ wide drive lanes and two 6’ wide bike lanes. The roadway would be striped and signed for bike lanes and no parking would be allowed. An example of this design can be seen on Excelsior Road between Inglewood Drive and Forest Drive.
- Option B – Construction of a new urban (curb & gutter) roadway with a 5’ bike lane and separated 10’ wide bituminous trail. This option creates a wider roadway/trail section and would require an additional 7’ of property acquisition on both sides of the roadway. This option also includes extensive stormwater collection and treatment improvements.
Following the presentation, several other options were brought forth by those in attendance. Other options discussed included leaving the roadway as is with 8’ and 4’ shoulders, reconstruct the roadway with 6’ shoulders but with no bike lane designation and constructing a curb & gutter roadway with a concrete sidewalk.
The City welcomes further comment and input on this project and we are encouraging property owners and residents to submit written comments. Comments can be mailed to City Hall at 13190 Memorywood Drive or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. The City Council will review all comments and a decision on the final design of the roadway is anticipated to be made by the mid November.
