ADA Transition Plan

On December 19, 2017, the City of Baxter adopted the ADA Transition Plan.  The ADA Transition Plan regulates facilities located within the public right-of-way. Facilities covered by the ADA Transition plan include trails, sidewalks, pedestrian curb ramps and traffic control signals and devices. Baxter K9 Officer “Gator” to Retire

After nine plus years of service to the Baxter Police Department K9 Gator has retired. Our 10 year old Belgian Malinois has worked his last shift for the city and will now get to enjoy a well-deserved stretch of time off.

City of Baxter Receives Financial Reporting Award

The City of Baxter was awarded the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2015 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The award represents the fifth consecutive for the city.

New Animal Shelter

The City of Baxter would like to make everyone aware of a new animal shelter that has recently opened just north of the City of Lakeshore. The Babinski Foundation Animal Shelter is a multi-million dollar facility that has just opened and is looking to assist in serving sheltering needs of animals in our community.

Story Map

The City of Baxter has just recently added an informational and interactive feature to our city website that outlines natural disasters that have affected Crow Wing County over the years. The feature, called a story map, is an interactive look back at the reported disasters that impacted our community.  The information was provided to us to assist emergency managers and community leaders to better plan and prepare for future disasters.  The story map link can be found under the City Maps tab.
