Citizens may observe public works staff performing routine maintenance of fire hydrants starting on Monday, April 24th and will continue for approximately 3 weeks. Flushing will occur between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Hydrants are flushed with strong flowing water to clear out any debris and sediment that has accumulated in the past year. This process is an important preventative maintenance activity to insure the integrity of the water system and deliver the highest quality water to our customers.

If you experience discoloration in your water after crews have been flushing in your neighborhood, clear the pipes in your home by running all cold water faucets for a few minutes until clear. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the City of Baxter Public Works Department at 454-5115.
